TECH: Google and Flickr April Fools' pranks

Two tech companies known for their pranks in the past are back at it this April Fools' Day.  You'll notice some "new" features today for Google Maps, as well as for photo-sharing website Flickr.

On Google Maps, you'll be introduced to "Quest Maps", described as 8-bit Beta map technology.  The feature essentially makes your map look like the graphics from an early Nintendo Game Boy.  It works in street view as well.  The image above is a view from S. Clinton Ave. in Rochester, looking north towards Bausch & Lomb and Xerox towers.

Meanwhile, over at Flickr there's an option to make the screen look like a PC from before I was born.  Click the icon at the bottom right of the screen (see red arrow in screenshot to left), and the screen goes white, you get that computer tone that will take you back to your first Mac, and there you go - what Flickr would have looked like in 1984.  Click HERE for more read about Flickr's latest "project".
